Why do you care about songwriting as a craft and why do you care about building the TERRA Community? What does it all mean to you?

I believe songwriting is therapeutic as a way to process and heal, as well as connect with others on a deeper level. Ultimately when we grow as individuals, we all rise together, as we have more to offer in our intimate relationships and in broad strokes with society. Art and words have the power to shape the world around us, sparking movements, uniting or dividing... to challenge stigmas, to shift perspectives. I care about TERRA because it is good people doing good things to help themselves and each other.. and because TERRA "creates" / encourages community.

Have you had a mentor in the past? How do you think that affects your perspective as a mentor?

I have had mentors, one that I paid for their time, one through a non-profit program, and one who found my work and just had it in their heart to help. In each instance, I received advice/ tips, feedback, encouragement, validation to combat imposter syndrome, and more. I believe I will shape my mentorship approach with my own mentors in mind.

What are you proud of in your songwriting and how can that help others build the same strengths?

Melodies and lyrics, vulnerability, learning to challenge myself technically while also embracing simplicity when that is the best choice for the song. I can help with suggestions, feedback, and help a beginner understand 'where to go' musically with basic theory.

What do you think your standout skills are for mentoring?

I think I can help people 'cut through the noise' with marketing / branding / promoting help. I also think I can help people with Mindset in these areas as well as walking the artist's journey mindset and business mindset. I have done so for two decades, both DIY and with labels, learning the hard way. I have played to empty basements to packed Tokyo venues and back, and dealt with professionals high-up in the industry as well as super shady bookers/promoters on tour and everything in between - integrity and corruption. Ultimately I do not have a specific area of expertise, rather, a lot of experiences - successes and failures- to share from.

What skills outside of songwriting would you like to share?

Marketing / branding / promoting, Home recording/production in Logic

How Much do you charge for an hour-long session?
