Why do you care about songwriting as a craft and why do you care about building the TERRA Community? What does it all mean to you?

Music has only really ever been the true happiness in my life. Building the TERRA Community is really about sharing happiness with one another. Along with that, building the TERRA Community is about sharpening each other’s skills by inspiring and learning from one other.

Have you had a mentor in the past? How do you think that affects your perspective as a mentor?

I have had teachers and unofficial mentors. If you apply yourself and dig into your mentor’s teaching you can really learn a lot more in a lot less time. Plus, I think depth and confidence also grows from working with someone else. Sometimes it is simply the act of active conversation and sharing/receiving that can lead to that deeper understanding. That in itself is often worth the cost of admission.

What are you proud of in your songwriting and how can that help others build the same strengths?

My aim in every song is to try to find the momentum that will keep the listeners attention through every turn of the song. This isn’t an easy thing to do, but a lot of my advice will be aimed at achieving this. I also think I have a solid understanding of production and arrangement of songs. I think I can help others with melody writing if that’s something in question. I definitely have a detailed ear, and I can be brutally honest if that is something you want. I can also identify when it’s not worth tinkering forever. I would never want to give advice that leads to more frustration, but that is what some feedback can do. In a mentoring session I would help identify a plan of action that hopefully would avoid spending endless hours on an unachievable task.

What do you think your standout skills are for mentoring?

  • Production advice: I have a solid foundation in studio production experience from playing and writing in different projects. I can definitely give thoughts on where to take a song production wise.

  • I have a detailed ear. If you are in the midst of working on a project then I’m happy to give constructive feedback.

  • Guitar playing - I have taught guitar lessons for over a decade.

  • Mixing/ Mastering - Happy to dive into a session and see what we can figure out. I’ve mixed and mastered my own projects, but also been hired for outside work, too. It’s not something I focus on business-wise, but definitely able to lend an ear and be more hands on in the box if you’d like.

  • My sparkling personality!

What skills outside of songwriting would you like to share?

Production, editing, vocal tuning, mixing, mastering, guitar playing, eventually diy pr, touring preparation, programming midi/ gear choices, building a pedal board

How Much do you charge for an hour-long session?

$50
